all involved. This year Fátima and Maurice Belhaj, the owners of La
Place, Spikes and Café Crème, have been chosen as the Restaurateurs
of the Year par Excellence.

Place offers gourmet French cuisine in
elegant surroundings with stunning views of
the ocean from most tables.
It is run by Moroccan-born chef, Maurice
Belhaj and his wife Fatima, whose former
restaurant in Paris became so popular it was
reported in the international press and the
Michelin Good Food Guide.
The menu offers a range of starters, meat
and fish dishes and delicious desserts in
traditional French style. The menu changes
every two months and is backed by a good
wine list of both French and Portuguese

interior is elegant and the tall glass
windows enable diners to enjoy fantastic

park. The modern European menu is creatively
presented and the service is attentive yet

Classics include Duck Breast Salad with foie
gras and Roasted Lamb Carré with spinach
gratin. Spike’s desserts should definitely
not be missed, especially the legendary
Apple and Blueberry Crumble with vanilla

Spikes Brasserie at the Clubhouse is the
perfect meeting place for golfers to take
breakfast before tee off, a well earned
lunch after a round, or just enjoy a

price menu.

Lo, author of over 30 books on Chinese
cuisine, is the main founder of “Ken Lo’s
Memories of China” restaurants and the
“Cookery School” in London. After his
enormous success in London, he inaugurated a
new branch of his restaurant in Vale do
Lobo.
The restaurant offers a refined and relaxing
ambience and includes a magnificent terrace
that is used all throughout the summer
season.
The menu is diverse, providing a fine
selection of dishes for every palate.
For fans of Chinese cuisine or for those who
wish to discover a taste for these
delectable delights, this restaurant is a

 Sandbanks is a new addition to Vale do
Lobo’s impressive collection of restaurants
and is located in front of the beach,
enjoying spectacular views. In the kitchen
the London-trained chefs create traditional
and contemporary European cuisine with
stylish presentation.The menu includes a range of shellfish and a
good selection of fresh fish including
sardines grilled on charcoal. Sandbanks
classics include Roasted Monkfish wrapped in
bacon and a delicious Goat Cheese Tart. The
dessert menu will not disappoint either with
delicious treats such as Chocolate Marquis,
Summer Pudding served with fresh cream, and
Sticky Pudding with toffee sauce. Service is
attentive but discreet, ensuring the diners
can relax and admire the sunset… |
Monty’s Restaurant and Bar

Monty’s offers stylish food and drink in an
informal atmosphere. The décor is modern and
the live music provides a relaxed setting
for diners to enjoy the restaurant’s
excellent selection of modern European
cuisine. Classic dishes include Cumberland
Sausages and Mash (sausages are specially
imported from the UK), traditional British
Fish and Chips with mushy peas, and a choice
of steak and meat dishes. Healthier options
include Tempura Prawns and Seared Tuna with
lime and chilli salsa.
Later on in the evening, Monty’s is
transformed into a late night music and
entertainment bar which has now become one
of the most popular night spots along the
Algarve.
Personal recommendation: Top of my list is Monty's. Based at the Praca, by the beach, Sirloin Steak, Chicken with Piri Piri
sauce or be it an Italian dish, Monty's tops the
lot. Just a 10 minutes walk from the villa, Monty
offers great value for money for this
finger licking, lip smacking taste. As for drinks,
they just don't measure... a single is a double
a triple, you only know when you are more than just tipsy. I'll leave that to you to find
out. Service was excellent and they have
karaoke on Saturday nights. MOST RECOMMENDED.
